A global pandemic, the war in Ukraine, the environment and loss of loved ones resonate in our world in these trying times.
I am an artist at best. But I like to think we have a heart that feels empathy for those in worrisome global events that our different societies have very little or no control over!
Looking back on recent times wishing you all who follow or those who are clients to be mindful of our fragile world. Art can be an escape but also an exhibition of reality of what our societies are going through in any era. Like Molly Lamb Bobak Canada’s first female war artist or more recently James Nachtwey the American war photographer and journalist.
As I move through this present era of reality my mind expands more to try to understand art in a broader sense and ask what we can bring to those who need us most? Will you think about this? My dear clients and colleagues?
The big 60 years of age was a milestone. I spent the entire day with cameras appropriately north of Whistler in the Owl Creek Recreation area-of course weather was perfect. Reflected on many things in my life that day then planning for new adventures and learnings.
I do miss my trips to Southern Alberta and Quebec and am planning another trip to France Austria and Slovakia in the future – pending a number of things. Risk Management and Safety work keeps me busy as well as hiking creating more landscapes, gardening healthy food and going to the pool and gym at least 5 times a week to soothe the mind and re invigorate the body!
On that trip to Europe will be my next biggest quest for learning more about art. Biot France home of one of my most favourite artists Fernand Leger.
Other thoughts are another public exhibition of my work either this fall or in 2023. In the meantime, ongoing personal growth, good health and learnings will be constant. My paradise of the ocean, sand beaches, mountains, forests, yard, gardens and the artisan culture of the Comox Valley quell my soul.
With my cameras and many other sources of knowledge including the art Library my Mom left me, I am continuously enhancing my creativity and educating myself in the joys of light!
The world is definitely changing. I appreciate always your kindness and appreciation of my art during these changing and very challenging times.
Losing both parents in 2022 has opened many thoughts to what a life one should lead in 2023 onwards!
The events of 2022 lead to or even demanded I escape with a short respite with my cameras only to Southern Alberta early October 2022 that was long over due after all that had happened in 2022.
I know where my home really is and still offer you choose a visit to the Comox Valley.
But most of all no matter what your choices or daily lives are like, try to be kind to each other, merci.
Until we meet again!
